The International Menuhin Music Academy was founded by the legendary violinist Lord Yehudi Menuhin, together with his close collaborator and distinguished violinist Alberto Lysy, one of Menuhin’s most brilliant students and the first prize-winner of the Queen Elisabeth Competition. Their shared vision was to create a unique environment where exceptionally talented young string players from around the world could develop their artistry through intensive study, chamber music and frequent concert performance.

From its earliest years, the Academy became internationally recognised for its distinctive approach to musical education. Under the artistic leadership of Alberto Lysy, generations of gifted young musicians were trained not only as soloists but also as chamber musicians and orchestral leaders. The Academy’s musical spirit was embodied in the celebrated ensemble Camerata Lysy, founded by Alberto Lysy, which became an important ambassador of the Academy’s artistic ideals on international stages.

Over nearly fifty years, the International Menuhin Music Academy has educated generations of distinguished musicians who have gone on to become leading soloists, concertmasters, professors and principal players in major orchestras worldwide. Alumni of the Academy today hold positions in ensembles such as the Royal Concertgebouw Orchestra in Amsterdam, the Berliner Philharmoniker, the Orchestre de la Suisse Romande and the Orchestra dell’Accademia Nazionale di Santa Cecilia in Rome. Others teach at leading institutions including Yale University, the Colburn School of Music in Los Angeles, the Universität der Künste Berlin and the Hochschule für Musik Basel.

The Menuhin Academy Soloists ensemble represents the performing arm of the International Menuhin Music Academy. Under the artistic direction of violinist Oleg Kaskiv, the ensemble brings together exceptional violinists, violists and cellists from across the world, offering its members intensive concert experience while launching the careers of the next generation of leading musicians.

The ensemble performs regularly in Switzerland and internationally, appearing in prestigious concert halls and festivals and touring throughout Europe, Asia and the Americas. Their performances combine stylistic refinement and virtuoso precision with the energy of a young ensemble, presenting repertoire ranging from classical masterpieces for string orchestra to lesser-known works and contemporary compositions.

Through this vibrant concert activity, the Menuhin Academy Soloists continue the founding vision of Yehudi Menuhin and Alberto Lysy: to unite the most promising young musicians from around the world and prepare them for international careers at the highest artistic level.
